About Ela
Ela has been a full time musician for more than 10 years, singing with a wide variety of jazz musicians from the south coast around Brighton where she lives. She has a passion for authentic music from the great jazz era, singing exclusively jazz and bossa nova. She takes inspiration from the greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, Joao Gilberto to name a few – trying to find in her voice the things she admires in theirs – depth, emotion, tone, subtlety, nauance, pitch accuracy while still being rhythmically ‘in the pocket’ and having a lot of fun shine through!

Ela comes from an artistic family with a professional jazz pianist father. She gained a first class degree in Music and Fine Art at Brighton University. She studied jazz at Chichester college under Adrian Kendon and went on to be a full time professional jazz singer.
