4th November, 11am – 2pm – free
Trading Boundaries, near Sheffield Park, SussexEla and Paul
I will be singing with Paul Richards at the Sunday lunch sitting. This place is a great day out, it’s got a fabulous garden and in the house a big stock of things to buy from jewellery to furniture as well as some boutique shops and a winery in their court yard out back. We play background music in the big cafe. They serve really great food so you should treat yourself!

Fudgies Bistro, 196 Church Road, Hove
This place is a really lovely little gem in Hove, I’ve played with my trio there before and there is a really welcoming and fun atmosphere to the place. You can eat or just have a drink while we serenade you. I’ll be joined in the trio by Matthew Wall on 7 string guitar and Robin Watt on tenor saxophone.

Some past gigs I have enjoyed –

Ela Southgate trio at the Paris House
This was a bit of a treat for me to play with Jason Henson and Dan Sheppard at this renowned Brighton musical hotbed! And I was the poster girl for this month! The Paris House is is a musical gem in Brighton. Every night you can hear live bands for free. They regularly have nationally known players as well as a myriad of Brighton home grown talent. Pop along there any day of the week! Here’s their website if you’d like to peruse the upcoming line up.

Three Little Birds quintet at Love Supreme Festival – July 2018
This was such a fantastic gig, we must thank the fabulous teams at New Generation Jazz and The Verdict  for putting us on.
We kicked things off on the NGJ stage and then after we enjoyed staying at the festival and listening to great and varied musical treats!

Three Little Birds Quintet concert
Friends Meeting House, Brighton – Dec 2017

Below is a selection of pictures taken that day, by the fabulous Brighton jazz photographer Lisa Indigoburns Wormsley. This was such an enjoyable gig for us, great acoustics in the hall to hear all our crisp harmonies & a very appreciative audience, what more could we want!

Duo gigs with Matt Wall
Matt and I have played together for many years, and share a love of the classic jazz and Latin standards. Matt really thinks about the harmony and the voicings to play on the guitar to beautifully compliment the melodies I am singing. He is so good at it that it’s become like second nature to sing with him.  We play many public concerts but here we are playing a winter wedding on Brighton’s Bandstand.

Duo gigs with Paul Richards at The Independent pub in Hannover.
I’m lucky enough to sing fairly often with one of Brighton’s most well loved guitarists. We have played together at many venues in and around Brighton. This particular picture was taken at the Independent, this pub is so warm and friendly and serves really fantastic food. Paul has a different singer or musician play with him there every Wednesday, do pop along any week, you’ll be in for a treat.
